We Know: All About Storage Cabinets

About Storage Cabinets

Storage cabinets can be used for holding tools, paint cans, food, bedding, or other items. While some cabinets are designed to be used outdoors, many are not. Be sure the cabinet specifies that it's waterproof if you intend to use it outside.

Optional Features for a Storage Cabinet

A storage cabinet may have one or more of the following features:

  • Assembled: While this saves you the trouble of doing it yourself, you may have to pay extra shipping costs because it's an oversized item. Some storage cabinets made of metal are only available as preassembled.
  • Adjustable shelves.
  • Security lock.
  • High weight capacity: Some cabinets are stronger than others. Cabinets that have a weight capacity over 600 pounds are fairly strong. In addition to the cabinet's construction materials, the size of the cabinet also limits the amount of weight it can withstand.
  • Easy assembly.
  • Waterproof.
  • Heavy-duty construction. This is especially important if you'll be storing heavy items as opposed to something like bedding.
  • Stackable: Additional units of the same size can be stacked atop one another.
