We Know: All About Rubber Mulch

What is rubber mulch?

Rubber mulch is used as a substitute for traditional wood mulch manufactured from trees. Rubber mulch is made from recycled rubber, usually old tires, and so is a great way to reduce the number of tires in landfills. It also looks great and can serve all the purposes that wood mulch does.

The Advantages of Rubber Mulch

There are several reasons why rubber mulch might be used instead of wood mulch:

  • It doesn't rot.
  • It doesn't float away during a rainfall or blow away in the wind.
  • Most brands of rubber mulch are non-toxic.
  • Is safer for children to play on because it doesn't cause splinters.
  • Rubber mulch is made from recycled rubber so it doesn't require the destruction of trees.
  • It helps to keep moisture in the soil.
  • Can be used for decorative purposes.
  • Grass trimmers won't affect or damage the rubber mulch.
  • It comes in a variety of colors.
  • The color doesn't easily or quickly fade.
