We Know: All About LCD TVs
What is an LCD TV?
LCD stands for liquid crystal display and is a type of television that relies on liquid crystals as compared to
traditional cathode ray tubes (CRTs). Most LCD televisions offer better displays than CRTs, in part because LCDs have a
higher resolution.
Optional Features
Depending on the price, model, and manufacturer, an LCD TV may have one or more of these features:
- Computer input: Plug in your computer and enjoy digital images and audio on your TV.
- Stereo speakers.
- Digital cable ready tuner.
- S-video input: Enhance the video image when connecting to a DVD or a digital broadcast.
- Ability to swivel around for different viewing angles: Most have a maximum swivel of 170 degrees.
- Surround sound.
- Pedestal stand.
- High resolution: In most cases, you'll see the resolution measured in pixels. For example, a more expensive
LCD TV may have a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. Those numbers represent the amount of detail in a given area. The higher
the numbers, the higher the resolution and the better the image quality.
