We Know: All About Glue Guns

What is a glue gun?

Glue guns are used to apply melted glue and can be powered with electricity or butane. Glue guns are used by hobbyists, do it yourselfers, and for manufacturing purposes. Glue guns range in price from $4.00 to $65.00.

Types of Glue Guns

Depending on what you will use a glue gun for, your budget, and if you need one that is portable and does not run on electricity, you have a variety of choices:

  • All-Purpose Glue Gun. This is a cheaper model of electric glue gun that uses glue sticks.
  • Dual Temperature Glue Gun. The two heat settings allow you to use the gun for multiple purposes.
  • Butane Powered Glue Gun with LEC Power Technology. Because it runs on butane and not electricity, this model is completely portable. It can run without stopping for up to 100 minutes on the refillable LEC. The temperature range is from 320 degrees Fahrenheit to 464 degrees Fahrenheit, and can reach full temperature in three to five minutes. This is one of the more expensive glue gun models. Uses standard half-inch glue sticks. Drips are minimized with an instant glue flow stop feature.
  • Professional Lever Feed Glue Gun. For those who use glue guns for long periods of time, a lever feed is easier on the hand than a standard trigger feed. This type of model tends to be more expensive.

Who makes glue guns?

Most manufacturers have several glue gun models from which to choose, with a range of prices:

  1. Arrow
  2. Ace Hardware
  3. Black & Decker
  4. Master Appliance
  5. Northern Tool and Equipment
