We Know: All About Discount Perfume

About Discount Perfume

Perfume fragrances can be purchased for a fraction of their retail price. Many wholesale distributors sell discount perfume and can be found online. Online ordering is simple and convenient, making discount perfumes even more attractive to buyers.

Be on the lookout for counterfeit name brand perfume sold as discount perfume. The best way to make sure you're getting the real thing is to check with the perfume manufacturer for a list of authorized distributors. Counterfeit perfumes may contain toxic ingredients and often have a vile odor that doesn't even resemble the real perfume.

Types of Perfumes

There are several types of fragrances available, each of which can be purchased at a discount:

  • Perfume: Because perfume is the purest of fragrances, it generally costs more than other fragrance oils. The advantage is that you need less of it, so for the same amount of volume, it should last you longer than other fragrance types. Some of the better quality perfumes can contain as much as 20-50% pure fragrance.
  • Cologne: At the other end of the spectrum are colognes. Containing the least amount of pure fragrance, colognes, or "eau de toilet," most often have an alcohol water base mixed with as little as 3-8% of fragrance. These are usually preferred by those with sensitive noses or by men who don't wish to wear an overpowering scent.
  • Moisturizing Perfume Spray: Designed to moisturize dry skin as well as provide scent, moisturizing perfume sprays usually don't contain alcohol like other fragrance types. Alcohol-free skin products not only minimize moisture loss, but they can also be more comfortable to wear in warmer weather.
  • Eau de Parfum: An alcohol based perfume, eau de parfum is a diluted version of perfume, with only about 10-15% perfume concentrate. The scent is less overpowering than perfume and it also costs less.
  • Natural Spray: Natural spray perfumes are non-aerosol, using a pump instead to generate a fine mist of scent. Some prefer using natural sprays because they can apply a lesser amount of fragrance for a more subtle scent.

How to Find Discount Perfumes

If you're interested in buying discount perfume, there are many sources, including the following:

  1. Online: Most major search engines contain numerous links to discount perfume distributors from whom you can order online and have shipped to you. Before ordering from one of these companies, make sure they're authorized distributors for the perfume you want, or you may be buying fakes.
  2. Duty free shops: At many border crossings and international airports, you can purchase name brand perfume at discount prices.
  3. Retail stores: The same rule applies that the retailer must be an authorized distributor to ensure that you're buying the real thing. Some stores specialize in discount perfumes, others, including some drug stores, may sell them as part of their general inventory.
  4. Flea markets: While it's not uncommon to see vendors selling discount perfumes at flea markets, in all likelihood the merchandise is counterfeit.
