We Know: How to Buy a Car Bra/Mask
About Car Bra/Masks
They are designed to custom fit particular makes, models, and years of vehicles. Make
sure you have all that information before you make your purchase. If your vehicle has fog
or ditch light openings, make sure the car bra/mask will fit.
Most car bra/masks can be purchased for around $50-$100.
Available Car Bra/Mask Features or Options
These are some of the features and options you should look for:
- Material that is sturdy enough to protect against bugs, nicks, flying
debris, and rocks. Double stitching for the seams is much stronger than single stitching.
- Easy to install.
- If the back is made of a soft material like flannel, it will not scratch the paint.
- If the bra/mask uses hooks, they should be coated or padded so that they will not scratch
the paint.
- Even a limited warranty is better than no warranty.
- When the bra/mask is in place, check that you can still open the hood. Also make sure that
if Velcro or snaps are used that they will not interfere with the wipers or headlights.
- If the fit is not snug enough, the bra/mask is at risk for flying off when you are driving
on the highway. A loose fit can also make the bra/mask slap against the car's surface and scratch
it.
- The inner lining should be moisture-resistant.
Car Bra/Mask Manufacturers
There are several manufacturers, and they include:
- Colgan.
- LeBra.
- Wolf.
- Cover Craft.
