What's an airsoft gun?
An airsoft gun is a replica of a real gun but it shoots plastic BBs instead of bullets. Airsoft guns are used to
play games in which participants divide into teams to "kill" their enemy by
hitting them with the bb's
and in most cases, capture the enemy's flag.
Types of Airsoft Guns
There are Airsoft guns modeled after real weapons. Your choices are:
- Shotgun: Airsoft replicas of shotguns are usually either pump or spring action.
- Rifle: These include sniper rifles and machine guns.
- Handgun: Handguns can come with or without a scope for improved accuracy.
- Accessories: As with real guns, accessories for airsoft guns include spotting scopes, slings, holsters, targets,
safety glasses, spare magazines, bipods, belts, lasers, flashlights, combat vests, and more.
Options for Airsoft Guns
There are Airsoft guns modeled after real weapons. Your choices include:
- Full automatic: The weapon fires for as long as you pull the trigger.
- Semi automatic: The weapon fires one shot each time you pull the trigger.
- Electric powered: Uses serveral individual batteries or a rechargeable battery pack.
- Gas powered: Uses either nitrogen, compressed air, or carbon dioxide (CO2) from a tank or individual cartridges.
- Spring powered: These weapons are cocked by pulling back a bolt or slide mechanism. The inner spring then
decompresses when the trigger is pulled and the paintball is fired.
